Treat Rationing

Mr. "All-You-Can-Eat-Buffet" and Mr. "Picky" can be a hand full when it comes to feeding: "Get in my belly" phrase for Indy refers to everything food related that can be pushed down the throat.  To Blue, on the other hand, it means 45 minutes of begging to eat regular food and non-stop treat consumption.

Now, trying to get Indy back into the house while he is enjoying his lake view demands shaking a plastic container full of treats and giving some upon entry.  When we want them to calm down, treats are issued.  During lunch when Blue starts begging for food, treats are used to distract him.  Treat hunts usually involve a large number of treats.  Training sessions, treats out of boredom and continuous other occasions on which they receive them can wipe out the entire supply and cause a shortage when they are really needed.

A decision had to be made: impose regulations and obey limits.  As we count points while doing Weight Watchers, puppies are now subjects to our treat baggies count.  Using suggestions placed conveniently on boxes and other type of packaging can help you decide how many treats can be eaten during a day.
